Back-in-stock alerts

When something sells out, the customers who wanted it are the easiest sale once it is back. This tool lets them sign up on the product page and emails them when it returns, through your own email system instead of a monthly service. Any online store with items that come and go can use it.

Built for AngelFire Ammunition

A Kansas ammunition manufacturer in Saint Marys.

The problem

Back-in-stock alerts ran on a paid outside service. The waitlist, and the rules for who was emailed and when, belonged to someone else.

What I did

I replaced it with a "Notify Me" sign-up and a waitlist on the company's own email system. The sender checks the store on its own schedule, waits until stock has settled, and emails waiting shoppers in batches sized to the stock on hand. If a product opens for preorder instead, they get a preorder notice with its ship date.

The result

The business owns its waitlist and its sending rules, and the paid service and its fee are gone. Waiting shoppers come back and buy when stock returns. The automatic sender emails only as many shoppers at a time as the stock on hand can serve, so there are fewer disappointed shoppers.

Try it Demo data

The waitlist screen staff see, rendered from its own templates with invented shoppers.

Interactive samples use invented data, including invented names and prices. Pictures of the samples show the same invented data. Prices in screenshots of shipped marketing are already public.
